Kusal Mendis hit Liton Das with his bat in the 24th over of the first innings, which was a peculiar event. Nayeem Hasan of Bangladesh was bowling to Sri Lankan batter Kusal Mendis.
The bowler smashed one short ball down the leg side, and like any good batsman, he attempted to pull but mistimed the hit. In the follow-through, he didn’t make a good connection with the ball and instead swung his bat at the keeper. Fortunately, he didn’t make a strong impact on the keeper, and no significant harm was done.
After a brief pause, play resumed after the goalie underwent a necessary concussion test due to the impact on his head.

Sri Lanka has amassed a mammoth total of 397 runs thanks to Angelo Mathews’ 199. By the conclusion of day 1, they were hoping for a score of around 500, but the Bangladesh spinners came back strong.
