Edgbaston Test Match Against England
KL Rahul is doubtful for playing in the test match against England at Edgbaston starting from July 1 to 5. He is suffering from a groin injury.
Rahul was named captain of the Indian team for the T20 series however, on the eve of the first match in Delhi, the opener pulled out of the Indian squad, and Rishabh Pant has been the captain since then.
The stylish batsman has also been named as Rohit’s deputy for the upcoming tour of England, where India will play three T20Is and three ODIs in addition to the lone Test, which will be the fifth and final Test of the extended series, which began last year but was called off after four games due to Covid cases in the Indian squad.
According to the report, the length of Rahul’s absence from action is unknown. He is thought to have reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru a few days ago, but his problem has yet to be fully diagnosed.
According to the article, Rahul’s participation in the England series is in doubt, but there is no word on whether he will be forced to miss the white ball games as well. The Indian squad will fly to England in two batches, the first on Friday (June 16) and the second on June 20, with coach Rahul Dravid, Pant, and Shreyas Iyer.
There’s also no certainty that the selection committee would choose a substitute for Rahul, who is part of a 17-man squad that includes three openers. In the absence of Rahul, the Test team would be led by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, with Mayank Agarwal being named in the squad if the team management requests it.
