After announcing retiring from all forms of cricket, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh stated on Friday that he is not against entering politics, but that he would like to give it a lot of thought before making a final decision.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, the president of the Congress’ Punjab unit and a former India teammate of Harbhajan, recently uploaded a picture with him on Twitter with the description “image laden with possibilities.” This fueled speculation that he will join the party.
“To be honest, I have no idea what’s in store for me.” I only need a couple of days to decide which route I want to go. When questioned about his future ambitions, Harbhajan told PTI, “Yes, I want to contribute back to society.”
“If I join politics, how and in what form, I need to work out such things because my major goal is to help people if I take the plunge at all,” he continued.
While he refused to discuss it openly, sources close to him say there is a slim likelihood he will run in the Punjab state assembly elections due to cricketing and media commitments that would keep him occupied.
The tenacious former player stated that he did not want his involvement with the game to cease with his retirement.
“As far as cricket is concerned, I will continue to be involved with it.” I’m willing to coach and advise IPL teams, as well as play some experienced cricket,” he stated.
Harbhajan Singh might act as a mentor with the Kolkata Knight Riders or Mumbai Indians, where he spent 10 memorable years as a cricketer.
In addition, he is working on his autobiography, which will be released in the next six months.
“Oh, yes, I’m almost done with my autobiography.” It will be released in the next six months and is a tell-all account of my experiences as an insider in Indian cricket. I hope people enjoy it as much as they enjoyed me.”
