On July 16, 2022, Ladki, Ram Gopal Verma’s upcoming film, will be released in theatres in all five Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Since its announcement, it has been in the news frequently.
With Pooja Bhalekar, a former martial artist who is now an actress, playing the lead role, the movie is hailed as a unique martial arts picture. According to the film’s director, RGV, she is a real-life taekwondo champion who is portraying a martial artist who is fixated on Bruce Lee.
Originally scheduled for release on August 27, 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic caused the release date to be postponed. Then, RGV announced the new release date of December 10, however that date was later changed to July 16.
SMART COUNTS
It is a film produced by Arts Media (India) and Big People (China) jointly. RGV just announced that the movie will be shown on 40,000 screens in China. If this is the case, then Secret Superstar, which was previously released on 12000 screens in China, was followed by Dangal, which opened on 9000 screens, and Baahubali 2 on 6000 screens.
BUDGET
It will be intriguing to observe how Chinese moviegoers react to RGV’s Ladki after movies like Superstar and Dangal did so well there. Ladki is RGV’s most expensive film to date. Verma’s movie will face tough competition from the films “The Warrior” by Ram Pothineni, “Hit: The First Case” by Rajkummar Rao, and “Shabaash Mithu” by Tapsee Pannu, all of which are opening the day before Ladki.

The word surrounding RGV’s movie is not positive, and it appears that only RGV’s ardent supporters in India would watch it. According to projections, it will bring in between Rs 15 and 20 lakhs on Day 1. Dangerous, his earlier film that featured a lesbian relationship, also failed to find an audience.
