Ahmedabad. 9 January 2023:- Talented and committed NRI individuals living overseas were conferred with Salute India Awards at a ceremony held today at JB Auditorium, AMA, Ahmedabad.
Padmashri Kumarpal Desai and Padmashri Joravarsinh Jadav were present in this program. On this occasion, the book ‘Positive Stories’ written by Mr. Ramesh Tanna, founder of the Global Gujarati Federation, was launched by the social leaders whose positive stories are written in the book. This is the ninth book in the Positive series. Those who have contributed something to society with the spirit of social welfare in addition to personal achievement are selected for the Salute India NRI Award. The award consists of a memento, retinue, shawl and books.
Mr. Ramesh Tanna, founder of Global Gujarati Federation, further said that there are more than 70 lakh Gujaratis out of about two crore Indians living overseas.
Gujaratis constitute more than 35% of the total NRI community. The number of Gujaratis is very large both in terms of numbers and influence. The Gujaratis living across the seas leave their homeland geographically, but the homeland keeps beating in their hearts. They are connected with India and Gujarat in one way or another. Apart from being active in development activities, they also contribute greatly to humanitarian work.
Mr. Ramesh Tanna further said that this year Mr. Piyushbhai Patel (America), Mr. Harishbhai Surti (America), Mr. Manishabhen Pandya (America), Mr. Vishnubhai Patel (America), Dr. Nirali Ashok Patel (America), Mr. Subhash Shah and Mr. Bhagwati Behan Shah (USA) Shri Nisarg Pradeepbhai Trivedi has been awarded the Salute India NRI Award. Apart from this, Mrs. Ramabehan Pandya and the late Pratapbhai Pandya (Vadodara) and Ravjibhai Vasani (Ahmedabad) were awarded the Salute India NRI Award.
- Piyushbhai Patel owns an IT company in Florida. Apart from America, they have offices in India as well. Apart from education, he has contributed in many other fields. He was also active in rescue and relief during disasters including earthquakes in Gujarat, donated and provided. He has made many useful reforms in the field of education in America.
- Harishbhai Surti student of C.N. Lives in America. His opinion is provided in the renovation of Thakarsi Hospital near Shivranji. It is being made new at the cost of crores. Apart from this, he has contributed in many social service activities.
- Mr. Manishabehan Pandya lives in America. Manisha Behn, who holds important positions in various corporate companies, is the proud daughter of Gujarat. He has built more than seven thousand school libraries in Gujarat at a cost of crores of rupees. They are running multiple service activities.
- Shri Subhashbhai Shah and Sh. Bhagwati Behan Shah: Subhashbhai has been publishing a monthly from America called Gujarat Darpan for over thirty years with thousands of copies distributed. He has also done many works for Gujarati language literature in America-India besides donating his opinion. He has started clothing donation centres in memory of his godmother.
- Vishnubhai Patel: Originally from Kadi Taluk, Vishnubhai is a patriot. His opinion is imparted in education and service activities. He has given special donations to many organizations in Gujarat. He has great sympathy for the poor and the labourers. He has also written many books. He has done many foundational works for the upliftment of education.
- Dr. Nirali Ashokbhai Patel: This patriotic daughter of America-Boston has decided to leave America and live in Ahva with the intention of serving the tribals and keeping the memory of her father Ashokbhai alive. His father Dr. Ashok Patel has built a hospital in Ahva at a cost of 15 crores with great effort.
- Nisarga Trivedi: Nisarga Trivedi, the son of well-known writer-columnist Mr. Pradeep Trivedi, currently lives in America. He has developed the aptitude to become a CEO of a company at a young age. He is also a pilot. With an illustrious career, Mr. Nisarga Trivedi has also worked with APJ Abdul Kalam and Sunita William.
- Ramabehan Pandya and Sh. Pratapbhai Pandya: This couple has made a great contribution in education. Following Gandhi’s thoughts, he idealized many villages. Pratapbhai, the founder of Kitsab Parab, delivered books worth crores of rupees to schools, colleges and villages. The husband and wife have done a lot of social services. Ramaben has given her whole life for village upliftment.
- Ravjibhai Vasani: Hailing from a small village in Amreli District, Ahmedabad, Ravjibhai was created from scratch and then reinvented the society. He has kept the spirit of a joint family alive. They believe that education is the solution to all problems. He has given grants of more than 15 crores for education so far. He has also given large grants to various places and organizations apart from his hometown.
