ICAI Partners with Rural Development in Gujarat for Financial Training

Ahmedabad, September 11, 2023: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), in collaboration with the Commissionerate of Rural Development in Gujarat, has launched a special training program to enhance the financial skills of accounting staff working in Rural Development Agencies across Gujarat. This program is designed to benefit over 700 accounting officers in the state. The training will be conducted in local languages at seven ICAI centers in Gujarat. The first four training sessions began in Ahmedabad, with the program being inaugurated by Ms. Manisha Chandra, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary of Rural Development, along with CA. Aniket Talati, President of ICAI, and other dignitaries.
The training program spans two days and involves classroom sessions with small groups of around 50 officers. These sessions provide a platform for discussions and effective learning. Given the crucial role of rural development in the country’s growth, it’s essential that accounting professionals in this sector are equipped with the latest tools and practices.
Ms. Manisha Chandra, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary of Rural Development, Gujarat, expressed her excitement about the program, stating that it’s a commendable step towards enhancing the skills and knowledge of accounting staff. She believes that this will contribute to the better implementation of rural development schemes in Gujarat and commended ICAI for their initiatives and partnership in nation-building. She also mentioned that this is just the beginning, and she looks forward to more collaborations with ICAI.
CA. Aniket Talati, President of ICAI, shared that ICAI is actively involved in improving accounting and financial management practices in the government. With over 170 branches across India, ICAI’s professionals can help in building the capacity of government accounts and finance staff.
