Sainik School Balachadi Shines During its 63rd Annual Day Celebration
Recently celebrating its 63rd Annual Day with great pride and fervour on October 13, 2024, Sainik School Balachadi, which is situated in the lovely city of Jamnagar, Gujarat, Parents, students, staff, and special guests packed the auditorium of the school for the great celebration. The event was a wonderful fusion of academic honours, cultural events, and a strong feeling of school pride.
Special Guest and Warm Welcome
Respected Member of Parliament from the Jamnagar Constituency, Smt. Poonamben Maadam, was the evening’s Chief Guest. She arrived and was welcomed kindly by Cadet Harshita and Cadet Hetvi, who also handed her a bouquet signifying the start of the happy celebration. Having such a well-known individual accompany them for this significant event delighted the staff and students.
The evening began formally with the Chief Guest lighting the ceremonial lamp, therefore indicating the beginning of the cultural program. Presenting the Annual Report was Sainik School Balachadi Principal Colonel Shreyash Mehta. Speaking with pride about the school’s achievements over the previous year, he also discussed its aim and goal: preparing students to be officers of the Defence Forces, so serving their country.
Col Mehta also underlined the school’s initiatives to keep developing constantly. To guarantee the cadets receive the greatest education available, he underlined their attention on improved infrastructure, contemporary teaching strategies, and modernised amenities. A Cultural Extravaganza by Talented Cadets
Following the Annual Report, the cadets—who displayed their great talent in both art and culture—treated the audience to a sequence of amazing presentations.
Starting with a strong Ganesh Vandana, a devotional dance performance honouring Lord Ganesha, the cultural event The contagious nature of the energy defined the tone of the evening. Following this came a vibrant Garbo performance and a Fusion Dance, therefore giving the festivities a traditional flavour. The audience stayed riveted to their seats as the pupils moved and coordinated with such mesmerising effect.

Notable House Trophies
The announcement of the Cock House Trophy, given to the all-around best-performance house, was among the most awaited events of the evening. The esteemed award went to Shivaji House this year; their cadets had excelled in sports and extracurricular activities in addition to academics.
To heighten the evening’s thrills, Ahilyabai House also brought home the Best Holding House Trophy. Ahilyabai House in the Junior division and Angre House in the Senior division took home the academic prizes.
Awards and Achievements Specific to Speciality
Cadets who had distinguished themselves in original ways received several special medals:
- Cadet Rohan Mehta was awarded the Martyr Capt Nilesh Soni Medal for being the Best NDA Cadet and joining the 152nd NDA course. He was also rewarded with a cash prize of ₹25,000 from the OBSSA foundation for his accomplishment.
- Cadet Tirth Patel, Cadet Dhruvil Modi, and Cadet Ananya were recognized as the Best All-Round Cadets in the Senior, Junior, and Girls categories, respectively.
- Cadet Abhay Raj from Garuda House was named the Best Athlete of the Year, while Cadet Meghraj Gohel of Shivaji House was honoured for being the Best in Art.
Releasing the School Magazine
Complementing the list of accomplishments, the Chief Guest also unveiled the digital edition of the school magazine, “Sandeshak 2023-24,” with the subject “Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow.” The publication highlighted the successes of the cadets all year long, therefore providing parents and visitors with a window into the school’s dedication to comprehensive education.
