Ravi Bishnoi, the teenage leggie who astonished everyone by taking 12 wickets in 14 matches for Punjab Kings in the 2020 IPL Season, has been called up to the India squad for the T20I and ODI series against the West Indies.
Bishnoi remarked that former India and Punjab Kings coach Anil Kumble helped him improve as a player after getting the Indian cap.
“Anil sir has taught me a lot, and those lessons have helped me become a better cricketer. He would always advise me on how to believe in myself and never give up hope when things became tough. Those things were quite beneficial “Sportstar spoke with Bishnoi.
“I was looking forward to my chance. I was getting ready for the big league and making sure I was ready to give it my all whenever the opportunity presented itself. “All I wanted to do was keep performing and then wait my turn,” he explained.
Since being named as a reserve player by the new IPL club, Lucknow Super Giants, alongside KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis, the 21-year-old lad from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, has been the buzz of the town.
“It will be easy for me to adjust with Rahul bhaiya (KL Rahul) managing the team because I have already played under him in Punjab.”Being one of the few players selected by the franchise prior to the auction is a fantastic chance for me. Bishnoi continued, “I want to give my all to the team.”
“He (Kumble) always urged me to play to my strengths,” he remarked, elaborating on Anil Kumble’s role in his achievement. The recommendation was to adhere to my fundamentals and simply carry out the plans. There was no test conducted. He gave me the assurance that I could perform freely.”
