For MG Motor India, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), is not just about giving something back to the community. It is part of its ethos and core values. Aptly called MG SEWA, it is an active initiative towards selflessly and diligently serving the community. The initiative is led by its top management and all others actively contribute to it.
Under the banner of MG SEWA, MG Motor India has been undertaking a host of initiatives.
‘Prerna’ aims to create a financial platform for them and their families in the long term. The project is helping women develop skills to attain a better livelihood. It is aimed at contributing towards the sustainable development goals of society. It perfectly aligns with Skill India Campaign.
MG Motor India has further brought extremely talented and inspirational Dineshbhai Thakur Raval onboard as the program’s Master Trainer. Despite contracting polio as a teenager, with a dysfunctional right hand and leg, he has excelled as a couturier. He is well known across Mumbai and Surat where he has spent his professional career.
‘Prerna’s vocational training centre will be under the aegis of Baroda Citizens Council. It has been working in the city of Vadodara and adjoining areas for over 55 years. It has associated with MG Motor India for Prerna project.
In addition to creating economic empowerment, it will also help in reviving and preserving traditional art, culture, and handicrafts. It aims to create artisans to cater to the growing needs of hand embroidery, home decor, handcrafted jewellery, bags, hand-painted greeting cards, and more, in addition to basic cutting and stitching.
There also have been sessions for sharing experiences of successful artists and also insights in understanding the needs of the market. It also gives a platform for showcasing, exhibitions, and the sale of the creations by the participants.
With initiatives like Prerna, MG Motor India is committed to contributing back to society.
