Ahmedabad is set to host a landmark event in the world of mental health care—Aadi – A New Beginning, India’s very first Psychodrama Conference. This exciting event will take place on January 18th and 19th, 2025, and promises to be a game-changer in how mental health is approached in the country. Organized by Psychodrama in India (PiI), an initiative by Maanas The Inside Story (MTIS), this conference marks the centenary celebration of Psychodrama, a revolutionary therapy developed by Dr. J.L. Moreno.

The conference is a heartfelt tribute to Dr. J.L. Moreno, the pioneer of Psychodrama, who transformed the mental health field with his innovative group therapy techniques. Attendees can look forward to 13 experiential workshops led by renowned Psychodramatists from around the world. The event will feature an impressive lineup of international experts, including Ms. Marcia Karp, Ms. Eva Fahlström Borg, Dr. Clark Baim, Dr. Jochen Becker-Ebel, Ms. Savita Dhawan, Mr. Klaus Ernst Harter, and Ms. Julia Vinckler Nannattu. Dr. Jonathan Moreno, son of Dr. J.L. Moreno, will join virtually, adding a personal touch to the centenary celebrations.

Psychodrama’s emphasis on group therapy and shared experiences suits India’s collective culture. It offers a cost-effective and impactful approach to tackling trauma, anxiety, and relationship challenges, which are prevalent in today’s fast-paced world.

The conference is more than just a celebration; it is a step towards a larger vision. Psychodrama in India aims to unify all Indian Psychodrama institutes, standardize training, and ensure that certification meets global standards. This initiative will make Psychodrama more accessible and effective, addressing India’s population’s diverse mental health needs.
