Today marks the 21st anniversary of the release of ‘Lagaan,’ the cricket drama starring Aamir Khan. The film, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, was a box office success at the time. The entire team is getting ready to reconnect and celebrate at Aamir Khan’s house on this memorable day.
Apart from ‘Mother India,’ ‘Lagaan’ became India’s sole film to garner an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. Despite the fact that the picture has been out for almost two decades, its appeal has not waned.
Last year, the entire team digitally gathered to celebrate the film’s success. Even a pandemic couldn’t stop the cast from commemorating the film’s 20th anniversary. Last year, at a media appearance, Aamir reminisced about the film. He dedicated the film to his ex-wife Reena Dutta’s efforts. He revealed, “One thing that has stayed with me is how my ex-wife, Reena, handled the movie. She was the producer of ‘Lagaan,’ yet before that, she had little knowledge of cinema. Despite the fact that she had been married to me for a long time, she had no interest in movies. She has no prior experience in filmmaking.”
Meanwhile, Aamir is preparing for the release of his film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha.’ Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Kapoor also star in the film. It will be released on August 11th, 2022.
