Aastha Sharma drew inspiration from Kamal Haasan’s unforgettable character, Somu, in the classic film ‘Sadma.’

‘Neerja… Ek Nayi Pehchaan’ has been captivating audiences with its touching story centred around Neerja, who aspires to overcome the challenges of her life in Sonagachi and seek a life of dignity. The story has reached a critical juncture where Neerja, portrayed by Aastha Sharma, successfully helps Abeer, played by Rajveer Singh, regain his lost memory. However, there’s a heartbreaking twist—Abeer has no recollection of the love he shared with Neerja. This leaves her heartbroken and facing the possibility of returning to Sonagachi.

In a heartfelt attempt to jog Abeer’s memory, Neerja chases him and presents the necklace he had gifted her. Aastha Sharma, the talented actor, sheds light on this emotionally charged scene inspired by Kamal Haasan’s unforgettable moment in ‘Sadma.’ She expresses her deep honour in reenacting the climax of this classic, which beautifully portrays unconditional love.

It’s an honour for me to pay tribute to Kamal Haasan’s heart-wrenching scene in ‘Sadma.’ Who among us hasn’t shed tears as Kamal Haasan tries to rekindle Sridevi’s memory in that film? Our show’s narrative has reached an intriguing point where Abeer’s love for Neerja seems lost. After coming so far and leaving her life in Sonagachi behind, she fears she may be forced to return to that notorious place. In the upcoming episodes, viewers will witness the challenges faced by Abeer and Neerja following a traumatic incident.
