AESL Secures 7 GW Capacity in Khavda RE Park with Rs 3,000 Crore Transmission Network
Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), a key player in India’s private transmission and distribution sector, has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) for a groundbreaking project. This initiative involves the construction of a robust transmission network spanning over 300 kilometers to evacuate 7 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy from the Khavda Renewable Energy (RE) Park into the national grid.
AESL’s Strategic Move – Build, Own, Operate, and Maintain for 35 Years
In a significant move, AESL will spearhead the entire project life cycle, from construction to maintenance, for 35 years. The company’s commitment to the venture is underscored by an investment of Rs 3,000 crore. This venture solidifies AESL’s position as India’s largest private transmission and distribution entity.
Acquisition of Halvad Transmission Ltd. and Key Project Details
AESL has acquired Halvad Transmission Ltd., a special-purpose vehicle set up by PFC Consulting Limited for the specific purpose of evacuating 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda RE Park. The acquisition was secured through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, and AESL aims to commission the project within 24 months under the BOOM model (Build, Own, Operate, and Maintain).
Enabling Green Energy Access – Linking Khavda to Halvad in Gujarat
The ambitious transmission line will connect Khavda, home to the world’s largest Renewable Energy Park with a staggering 30,000 MW capacity, to Halvad in Gujarat. This connection to the national grid is crucial for efficiently evacuating 7 GW of renewable energy and making it accessible to consumers.
Technological Advancements for Minimal Environmental Impact
AESL, led by Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director, is committed to employing the latest technology to minimize environmental impact during the commissioning of this project. The company’s dedication to partnering with the government and renewable energy developers highlights its role in expediting the efficient evacuation of renewable energy.
AESL’s Market-Leading Position Strengthened
Winning this transformative project not only cements AESL’s market-leading position but also expands its network capacity. With over 20,518 circuit kilometers (km) of transmission lines and 53,161 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) of transformation capacity, AESL is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s renewable energy landscape.
