Adani Foundation Empowers First-Gen Entrepreneurs
Newzdaddy Business Updates
In a small village called Jameelabad in Tamil Nadu, a group of Muslim women faced challenges when fishing wasn’t possible. They created small items from palm leaves but earned very little money. However, things changed when the Adani Foundation stepped in. They trained these women and provided materials to make beautiful products from palm leaves. The women earned Rs 1,20,000 from July to September 2023 and became the first entrepreneurs in their village.
The Adani Foundation, through its “Sathwaro” initiative, works to preserve India’s rich art and craft traditions while supporting artisans. They help artisans improve their designs and connect them to markets to sell their products.
In another part of India, Abdul Rehman, who runs a coconut shell handicraft business, faced challenges when his products didn’t meet market standards. The Adani Foundation taught him about marketing and quality control at exhibitions. This helped him improve his designs and maintain high-quality products.
Soga Mary, a woman from Nellore, wanted to start her own business but faced resistance from her in-laws. The Adani Foundation helped her start a bamboo craft business by providing materials. Now, she earns Rs 6,000 per month, contributing to her household and saving for the future.
The Adani Foundation is hosting the “Sathwaro Mela” on November 1 and 2, 2023, to showcase products from first-generation entrepreneurs like Mary.
