Synopsis of the Article:

March 05, 2025: As the world prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, the Adani Foundation has taken a significant step toward empowering women in Kutch. In a grand event held in Mundra, the Foundation honored more than 1,000 women, known as ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ for their remarkable journey towards financial independence.

For nearly three decades, the Adani Foundation has been working towards women’s empowerment, skill development, and self-reliance. The Foundation continues to uplift women by providing training, mentorship, and opportunities in various sectors, ensuring they become active contributors to the economy.

Women’s empowerment is not just about financial stability—it’s about breaking barriers, creating opportunities, and transforming lives. The Adani Foundation is playing a crucial role in this mission by:

Facilitating job opportunities for women at Adani Solar, where more than 614 women are employed across different roles, including technical, engineering, and HR positions.
Encouraging over 850 women to become self-reliant entrepreneurs by enhancing their skills and supporting their small businesses.
Providing safe and secure work environments, ensuring gender-inclusive workplaces with essential facilities such as locker rooms, pink toilets, canteens, and dedicated transport services with security personnel.

These initiatives are making a real impact, helping women step into industries where they were previously underrepresented.

The event was graced by Ms. Manisha Chandra (IAS), Commissioner of Rural Development & Secretary to Government of Gujarat, who shared her appreciation in a recorded video message. She commended the Adani Foundation for uplifting women at the grassroots level and fostering financial independence among them.

“It is inspiring to see women breaking stereotypes and becoming financially independent. These initiatives pave the way for future generations to dream bigger,” she said.

Adding to this, Ms. Ami Shah, Director of Adani Public School, Mundra, was also present at the event, along with other distinguished guests, to celebrate the achievements of these incredible women.

Adani Solar, a key business unit of the Adani Group, is actively working to promote gender inclusivity in the workplace. To ensure a comfortable and safe environment for women employees, the company has implemented:

Dedicated locker rooms provide a sense of privacy and security.
Pink toilets, offering clean and hygienic restrooms.
Canteens with nutritious food options.
Safe transportation services with security personnel, ensuring women can commute without any worries.

For many women, these facilities have been life-changing. Ms. Gadhavi Sonal Ram, a Technical Associate at Adani Solar, shared her personal experience:

“Before, women in my community never thought of stepping out for work due to safety concerns. But thanks to Adani Solar’s safe transport services, I can now work without any fear, knowing my family supports my journey.”

The Adani Foundation’s ‘Butterfly Effect’ framework focuses on empowering women at every stage of life—from childhood to adulthood and beyond. With a special emphasis on:

Education and skill-building for young girls.
Healthcare initiatives for better well-being.
Sustainable livelihood programs to promote self-reliance.
Entrepreneurship development to encourage women-led businesses.

Through these interventions, the Adani Foundation has positively impacted over two million women and girls across India, giving them the tools to make independent life choices.

The Adani Foundation’s commitment to empowering women is not just a momentary initiative but a long-term mission. By providing financial independence, skill training, job opportunities, and a safe work environment, the Foundation is helping thousands of women achieve their dreams.

As International Women’s Day approaches, this initiative stands as a shining example of how businesses can drive social change, ensuring a future where women are equal contributors to the nation’s growth.
