The Adani Foundation hosted a two-day event called Sathwaro Mela in Ahmedabad. This event displayed beautiful handmade products from 20 groups of artisans across India. The aim is to support these artisans, protect India’s rich culture, and connect them with people who appreciate their work.
The event featured a wide range of crafts from different regions of India, like Sikki craft from Madhya Pradesh, Soonf and mud work from Gujarat, Warli art from Maharashtra, palm leaves products from Tamil Nadu and coconut shell items from Kerala. Visitors loved these crafts and bought many of them.
Usha, an artisan, proudly explained Sikki’s painting to potential buyers. She’s excited about the support from the Foundation and believes it will help her group make a profit. The event made over Rs 6,50,000 in sales and raised awareness about traditional arts, even among Adani Group employees.
Sathwaro Mela also highlighted dying arts like Rogan Art from Gujarat and Sadeli Craft from Surat. These arts are at risk of disappearing because very few people practice them. The Foundation’s goal is to give these artisans a platform to sell their products and connect them with the corporate gifting program of Adani, which can be a profitable market.
Vasant Gadhavi from the Adani Foundation says it’s important to preserve cultural identities and promote traditional crafts. Sathwaro aims to inspire the younger generation to carry on these legacies and supports goals related to economic growth, sustainable livelihoods, and cultural preservation.
Sathwaro means “together,” and its logo symbolizes unity. This event empowers artisans with modern designs and business knowledge, helping them create high-quality craft items that meet market demands.
