Adani Total Gas Q2FY25: Steady Growth in Green Energy and Infrastructure

A pioneer in India’s energy revolution, Adani Total Gas Ltd. (ATGL) has disclosed its Q2FY25 operational and financial results. In terms of growing its networks for CNG and PNG, EV charging stations, and hydrogen blending projects, the corporation has accomplished important milestones. These changes demonstrate ATGL’s dedication to helping India on its path to cleaner energy.

Expansion of CNG and PNG Networks

ATGL added 18 new CNG stations around India in Q2FY25, bringing its total number of stations to 577. This network supports the growing need for cleaner automotive fuel. Customers in various areas now have easier access to environmentally friendly fuel sources thanks to the expansion of CNG stations, which advances India’s clean energy objectives.

ATGL expanded its PNG (Piped Natural Gas) home connections in addition to its CNG growth, reaching 8.93 lakh households overall. ATGL added more than 34,000 additional households in only one quarter, contributing significantly to the uninterrupted and dependable natural gas supply to homes throughout India. Additionally, PNG’s commercial and industrial connections have increased; during this time, the firm added more than 200 new industrial customers.

Growing Electric Vehicle Charging Network

ATGL has taken the initiative to increase its infrastructure for EV charging in keeping with India’s drive for electric transportation. To make sure that electric car customers can locate charging stations with ease when traveling throughout India, ATGL had installed 1,486 EV charging stations in 21 states by Q2FY25. The company’s dedication to lowering carbon emissions by promoting the switch to electric vehicles is reflected in this expanding network.

First LNG Retail Station Commissioned

The opening of ATGL’s first LNG (liquefied natural gas) retail station for transport vehicles is another noteworthy event that occurred in Q2FY25. This station, which was created to serve the transportation business, offers a cleaner fuel substitute for diesel, assisting in the reduction of emissions in the commercial transportation sector. In order to improve the long-distance transportation infrastructure, ATGL is also building two additional LNG plants in Dahej and Mundra.

Increased Volumes of CNG and PNG

With a combined CNG and PNG volume of 242 MMSCM, ATGL recorded a 15% increase in gas volume over the prior year. The growth of the company’s networks and rising consumer demand for cleaner energy are the main causes of the volume increase. As more companies choose environmentally friendly fuel sources, the company’s concentration on industrial and commercial PNG users has also increased its total volume growth.

Financial Performance Highlights

In Q2FY25, ATGL’s financial performance was likewise strong. Due to improved sales realizations and increased volumes, the company’s operating revenue climbed 12% year over year to ₹1,315 crore. The company maintained strong margins, with EBITDA increasing by 8% to 313 crore, despite a 12% increase in the price of natural gas. The quarter’s profit after tax (PAT) was ₹178 crore, which was 6% higher than the previous year. In comparison to H1FY24, ATGL’s sales increased by 10% to ₹2,553 crore in H1FY25, while PAT increased by 13% to ₹355 crore.

Digital Transformation Through the SOUL Platform

ATGL’s emphasis on digitization is a fundamental component of its business operations. 98% of the company’s customer engagements and collections have been made digitally thanks to the “My Adani Gas App,” which is connected with its digital platform SOUL. Additionally, 93% of CNG sales are managed via the platform, which allows for real-time sales and operational monitoring and guarantees a smooth customer experience.

Additionally, ATGL has implemented self-service kiosks and a call center specifically for its EV charging business to improve client convenience. These developments demonstrate the company’s dedication to enhancing the usability and accessibility of energy solutions for all customers.

Hydrogen Blending Pilot Project

A hydrogen blending pilot project has been operationalized in Ahmedabad by ATGL as a step towards future energy solutions. An estimated 4,000 PNG customers would receive the 16 kg of hydrogen produced daily by this project, which will be mixed with natural gas. In order to achieve India’s long-term objective of lowering carbon emissions, the pilot program places ATGL at the forefront of green hydrogen development.

Sustainability and ESG Initiatives

Through its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, ATGL continues to prioritize sustainability in addition to its commercial accomplishments. To conserve water, the corporation has included rainwater gathering technology in its new properties. To further support its sustainability objectives, ATGL has also kept a fleet of 520 light commercial vehicles that are solely fuelled by CNG.

Through its Greenmosphere program, which has resulted in the installation of 1,150 trees throughout its stations, and its methane leak detection efforts, which have covered over 961 km, ATGL has demonstrated its dedication to both safety and the environment. These programs show how committed the business is to minimizing its impact on the environment and encouraging eco-friendly business practices.
