Competing against 2,453 teams from 46 countries, Team Doji secured the 4th global rank, becoming the first Indian team and second Asian team to achieve this feat.

Sonit, the son of Rotarians Shailendra and Nidhi Purohit, attributed his team’s success to their collaborative spirit, strategic thinking, and dedication to excellence. The competition, which evaluates financial acumen and trading strategies, tested the participants on their ability to navigate complex global market conditions.

Team Doji: A Stellar Performance on a Global Stage

Team Doji included five talented students—Sonit Rajpurohit (captain), Yuvraj Sureka (strategist), Khitish Parida, Krish Kothari, and Ishaan Kedia—guided by faculty advisor Yugantar Singh Rathod. Together, they generated a remarkable profit of $727,768, achieving a stellar return of 72.7%.

Their outstanding performance placed Christ University in the top tier of the competition, making it the only Indian university to rank among the top 150 globally. This victory underscores the growing prominence of Indian educational institutions on the international stage.

For Sonit, leadership has always been a cornerstone of his life. A former head boy for four consecutive years at Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir in Ahmedabad, he honed his interpersonal skills and developed a knack for teamwork. His experience as a class representative and University Student Council member at Christ University further prepared him to lead Team Doji to victory.

Sonit shared, “Growing up in Ahmedabad, a city deeply connected with the stock market, I was exposed to the financial world from a young age. Working in my family’s financial advisory business gave me a strong foundation in finance, which I used to guide my team through the complexities of the Bloomberg Challenge.”

This year’s top performers included Team Tigers Trading from Rochester Institute of Technology, USA (1st), GWNB from the University of Waterloo, Canada (2nd), and HML from the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China (3rd).
