The delightful father-daughter pair from COLORS‘ newest social drama ‘Doree,‘ Amar Upadhyay, and Mahi Bhanushali, recently visited Ahmedabad to spread the magic of their show. ‘Doree’ sheds light on the issue of girl-child abandonment, narrating the story of Doree, the foster daughter of Ganga Prasad, who bravely challenges traditional beliefs.
Set in Varanasi, the show revolves around six-year-old Doree, who stands up against the conservative mindset of Kailashi Devi Thakur. Kailashi, played by Sudhaa Chandran, is the head of a large handloom empire in Varanasi and controls the Thakur household. The narrative has struck a chord with viewers for its portrayal of the touching bond between a loving father, played by Amar Upadhyay, and his resilient daughter, portrayed by Mahi Bhanushali. It also sparks conversations about challenging stereotypes related to girl children.
In the ongoing plot, Doree’s biological mother, Mansi, is convinced that her abandoned daughter is alive. Doree, with big dreams for her foster father Ganga Prasad (Amar Upadhyay), aspires to make him a renowned weaver in the Bunkar community, earning recognition for his unique saree design against Kailashi Devi’s wishes. Amidst the cunning intentions of Kailashi Devi, the question arises: will Doree’s determination bring her father the acknowledgment he deserves?
