Take a look back at Jubin Nautiyal’s path in the music industry, and how AR Rahman played a key role in his success, as he celebrates his 33rd birthday today.
Jubin Nautiyal has established himself as one of the industry’s most well-known singers. Jubin’s lovely voice and endearing nature have earned him a sizable following. Through his passionate compositions, the singer has created a strong bond with his audience. Jubin’s versatility and mesmerizing voice have made him a popular option in Bollywood movies. Kuch Toh Bata (Bajrangi Bhaijaan), Ik Vaari Aa (Raabta), Kaabil Hoon (Kaabil), Akh Lad Jaave (Loveyatri), and Tujhe Kitna Chahein Aur are just a few of his chart-topping songs (Kabir Singh).
Jubin Nautiyal is a Dehradun native who moved to Mumbai with huge ambitions. Jubin recalled his encounter with AR Rahman, which changed the course of his life, in a recent interview with times. In 2008, Jubin discussed how ‘The Mozart of Madras’ influenced his career.
“In 2007, I graduated from high school and moved to Mumbai. I was in training at the time and sought advice from a variety of teachers. It was in 2008 that I had the opportunity to meet none other than Rahman sir. It was, without a doubt, a watershed moment in my professional life. At the time, I was only 18 years old. Rahman sir was invited to judge a reality programme, and as soon as I heard the news, I hurried to the set to visit him, and he offered me the most crucial piece of advice I’ve ever received. He informed me that Mumbai has always impacted artists, and that your voice has a particular character, but that you are too young now. To develop a mature voice, be patient and wait another 2-3 years. Jubin was cited as stating, “His words are still inscribed in my heart.”
After his first year of college, Jubin took Rahman’s advice and returned to his hometown. As a result, Jubin spent a couple more years in intensive training. Jubin realized at the age of 21 that his voice had reached the level of maturity that AR Rahman was referring to.
Jubin’s most recent acting role was in the song video O Aasman Wale. On YouTube, the T-Series music video has received over 59 million views.
