Australia Reveals Unexpected Picks for Cricket World Cup Squad

Surprising Choices in the Squad

Australia has surprised everyone by picking some new and unexpected players for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India this year. Two names that stand out are Tanveer Sangha and Aaron Hardie. But surprisingly, a well-known player like Marnus Labuschagne hasn’t made it to the squad. The team will eventually have 15 players, but for now, they have chosen 18.

One of the star players, Pat Cummins, won’t be playing because he hurt his arm and needs around six weeks to get better. The people in charge think this rest will help him get ready for the World Cup.

The teams have to choose their players by September 28. Australia’s first match will be against India on October 8 in Chennai.

Getting Ready for the World Cup

Australia is going to play five matches against South Africa to practice for the World Cup. In these games, players like Sangha and Hardie will get chances to show how good they are.

Even though Sangha has travelled with the team before, he hasn’t played in a match yet. He’s really good at spinning the ball, which is important in the Indian stadiums where the World Cup will happen.

Aaron Hardie has a chance to play alongside players like Mitch Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, and Glenn Maxwell. They are all-rounders, which means they can do both batting and bowling.

Why Isn’t Marnus Labuschagne Playing?

It’s a surprise that Labuschagne isn’t in the team. He has played well since he started, but the people choosing the team decided not to include him this time.

The person in charge of picking the team, George Bailey, thinks the group they’ve chosen is really good. He believes they have the right mix of skills and experience to win the World Cup. Australia has won the World Cup five times before, and they are hopeful about their chances this year too.

Australia’s preliminary World Cup squad:
