Black Adam is to be released in July
According to ‘Variety,’ DC Comics fans can get a better look at Dwayne Johnson’s “Black Adam” in a new action-packed teaser published on Wednesday.
The formidable anti-hero and sworn foe of Shazam, played by Zachary Levi in the 2019 origin film and the impending sequel, “Shazam: Fury of the Gods,” is set to be released next year. “Black Adam,” which has been in the works for more than a decade, will be launched on July 29 this year.
Johnson was set to debut as Black Adam in 2019’s “Shazam,” but his role was dropped when the spinoff for his character was greenlit in 2017, according to ‘Variety.’
Johnson shared a first peek at the film on Twitter in October 2021, showing Black Adam breaking free after 5,000 years of captivity. “For a very long time, this character, this picture, this universe has been a tremendous passion project of mine,” Johnson said in the October video. “To tell you the truth, I was destined to play Black Adam.”
According to ‘Variety,’ members of the Justice Society of America, an iconic group comparable to the Justice League, will be introduced in the film.
Hawkman is played by Aldis Hodge, Atom Smasher is played by Noah Centineo, Cyclone is played by Quintessa Swindell, and Doctor Fate is played by Pierce Brosnan. Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu are among the others who will appear in the film, as well as the nefarious Intergang.
