Synopsis of the Article

On April 20, 2025, the Indian Army’s Golden Katar Division held a great veterans gathering called “Shaurya Sabha” at Rawlley Stadium in Ahmedabad Cantonment as a sincere homage to those who had bravely and honourably served the country. More than 2000 veterans, Veer Naris (war widows), and relatives of dead soldiers from Ahmedabad and the surrounding areas attended the ceremony, which reaffirmed the Army’s steadfast ties to its extended family of former military members.

The rally was graced by several high-ranking dignitaries from both the Indian Army and Civil Administration, with Major General Gaurav Bagga, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Golden Katar Division, leading the event. In his address, Major General Bagga acknowledged the priceless contributions of the veterans and assured them of the Army’s continued commitment to their welfare.

“The foundation of our military history is our veterans. Our safe present has been made possible by their sacrifices. We are reminded of our duty to serve those who have served us in the past by occasions such as Shaurya Sabha,” Major General Bagga added.

The rally was more than simply a formality. It was a well-planned outreach program designed to help veterans with everyday necessities and make connections with social agencies. The assistance offered for pension-related issues via the SPARSH (System for Pension Administration Raksha) platform was one of the main attractions. To address pension concerns and assist with digital migrations, representatives from the Controller of Defence Accounts (CDA), Record Offices, and related banking institutions were in attendance.

The veterans’ physical health was taken care of by the Military Hospital in Ahmedabad. A comprehensive medical camp was established, providing general examinations, dental care, and consultations with specialists. Many veterans welcomed the chance to speak with military medical personnel and get treatment that was specific to their long-term medical need.

Many civic departments had put up information booths and helpdesks in addition to military services. These included information on state-sponsored veteran programs, help with welfare scheme applications, and Aadhaar services. These military-civilian partnerships guarantee that veterans receive public benefits without being overlooked.

Many guests warmly praised the fact that having such amenities under one roof made it simple for ex-servicemen, particularly the senior participants, to have multiple difficulties treated in a single visit.

The Army Welfare Placement Organization’s (AWPO) career counselling and reemployment assistance was one of the main features of “Shaurya Sabha.” Representatives interacted with veterans to offer employment possibilities and counselling, particularly for those wishing to enter the civilian workforce or pursue a second career after retirement. Additionally, advice on skill development was given, assisting veterans in understanding how to improve their abilities for contemporary employment markets.

The ceremony honouring 26 Veer Naris and war veterans was a poignant high point of the day. Heartfelt applause, respect tokens, and commendations were given to these women and soldiers who were invited to the platform. Many in the audience were brought to tears by their fortitude, tenacity, and unwavering dedication to the country’s principles.

The Shaurya Sabha concluded with a communal meal when long-time acquaintances reconnected, tales were exchanged, and the relationship between active and retired Indian Army troops deepened.

This rally was more than simply a one-day event; it served as a potent reminder of the principles of respect, honour, dedication, and solidarity that underpin the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian Army keeps demonstrating through programs like these that a soldier is always a member of the family.
