Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University, in partnership with AMFI, recently hosted a National Webinar focusing on ‘Financial Empowerment and Career Opportunities in the Financial and Securities Market’.
In a bid to shed light on the burgeoning realm of financial services and markets, Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, in collaboration with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), orchestrated a thought-provoking National Webinar. The event, held on April 11, 2024, was a joint effort by the Department of Liberal Arts and the School of Management, Commerce, and Liberal Arts (SMCLA) affiliated with Swarrnim University, in conjunction with AMFI.
Diving into Financial Realms
The session, spearheaded by Mr. Suryakant Sharma, a seasoned consultant with AMFI and former Deputy General Manager (DGM) at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), aimed to illuminate the myriad career avenues within the financial and securities market. Dr. Sourbhi Chaturvedi, Director of SMCLA, and Dr. Shashikant Bhagat, Head of the Department of Liberal Arts, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, graced the event with their presence.
Understanding the Urgency for Financial Professionals
With the financial and fintech industries on a rapid ascent, experts underscored the pressing need for proficient professionals in various roles within the financial services and markets. Thus, the seminar’s theme was strategically chosen to foster awareness among students regarding personal finance, financial planning, and economic intricacies.

A notable aspect of the event was the broad participation it garnered from across India. Over 200 participants, comprising 45 in-person attendees and 163 virtual participants, joined the enlightening session. Faculty members from the Department of Liberal Arts and SMCLA, along with eager students, virtually convened via video conference from the university seminar hall.
Demystifying Financial Lingo
Mr. Sharma, with his wealth of experience, elucidated the nuances of the financial and securities market understandably. He delved into technical jargon and terminologies, making them accessible to all. Emphasizing on financial empowerment for the common citizen, Mr. Sharma elaborated on the basics of market regulations, guidelines, and governmental policies.
Empowering Through Knowledge
The session wasn’t merely informative; it was empowering. Mr. Sharma shed light on many schemes and policies within the securities market, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding. Moreover, he outlined the array of online and offline courses available for new investors, offered by reputable agencies such as SEBI and the RBI.
