The probable starting XIs for today’s IPL 2022 Match 66 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants can be found here.
Kolkata Knight Riders would keep their playoff aspirations alive if they win against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. After an excellent start to their IPL odyssey, KL Rahul’s Lucknow will be looking to earn qualification by finishing in the top two. Shreyas Iyer and his teammates enter the match on the back of two consecutive victories over Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Kolkata batted first against Hyderabad and got off to a good start, but wickets continued to fall in the middle overs, appearing to derail the momentum. Before Sam Billings and Andre Russel took command, the team was facing yet another batting collapse. Russell has a perfect 49. Kolkata made 177 after hitting Washington Sundar for three straight sixes in the final over.
The Caribbean all-rounder returned to bowl for his team, picking up the key wicket of Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson. Russel concluded with three wickets as Hyderabad could only muster 123 runs from their 20 overs.
After a fantastic start to the IPL, the Lucknow Super Giants’ season seemed to have encountered a snag. Lucknow has a greater chance of qualifying than the other six teams, but KL Rahul and mentor Gautam Gambhir will not be satisfied with a third-place finish. In the previous match, Lucknow was defeated by Rajasthan Royals by 24 runs.
