T20 Series Against England
At Edgbaston on Saturday, Team India defeated England by 49 runs in the second Twenty20 match to win the series 2-0. (July 9). The way Rohit Sharma and company bat in T20s has changed recently, and they now want to establish the pace of the innings right away. Opening pair Rohit and Rishabh Pant accomplished that the other night by giving India a strong foundation in the opening few overs. Despite losing wickets quickly in the middle overs, India was still able to reach 170/8 in 20 overs thanks to a strong start and some later work from Ravindra Jadeja. The chase was difficult for England, and they were eventually dismissed for 121 in 17 overs as Indian bowlers put on yet another impressive bowling effort on Saturday.
The Indian squad had a surprise visitor in the dressing room immediately following the victory. He was none other than MS Dhoni, a former captain. Dhoni can be seen conversing with Ishan Kishan and staff members in the pictures that BCCI posted on their Twitter accounts. Along with Dhoni, Rishabh Pant too posted a selfie. Dhoni recently celebrated his 41st birthday in London, where many active Indian cricketers, like Mohammed Siraj and Shubman Gill, were there.
On Sunday, July 10, at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, India and England will compete in the third Twenty20 match. They will want to defeat the hosts by a score of 3-0. Jos Buttler will be under pressure because he wants to prevent a 3-0 whitewash in just his maiden series as the Three Lions’ full-time white-ball skipper.
Buttler expressed his regret in failing to lead the team to victory after two straight losses. He stated: “Very depressing. We didn’t play even remotely like we wanted to, thus we deserved to lose. The following game is tomorrow, so we don’t have much time to mull it over.”
