Dwayne Johnson has officially denied actor Vin Diesel’s desire to return to the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise for the upcoming Fast & Furious 10.

According to Variety.com, Diesel sent an invitation to Johnson on Instagram in November, pleading with him to reprise his role as secret agent Lucas Hobbs in the next movie of the series.

“The world waits for the ‘Fast 10’ finale,” Diesel added.

He said, ” “In my house, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne, as you are aware. There isn’t a holiday that they and you don’t send well wishes, but the moment has come to say goodbye. Legacy is on the horizon. Years ago, I promised you that I would keep my word to Pablo. I swore we’d attain and realize the finest Fast in the finale, which is number ten!”

Johnson responded to the proposal in a new interview with CNN, criticizing Diesel for expressing an invitation on social media after the two had already made an agreement in private.

“I told (Diesel) upfront that I wasn’t coming back to the franchise. I was firm but friendly in my statements, stating that I would always support the cast and root for the franchise’s success, but that there was no way I would return “Johnson clarified.

“Vin’s most recent public post exemplified his deception. I didn’t appreciate how he mentioned his children, as well as Paul Walker’s death, in the letter. Leave them out of the equation. We had discussed this for months and had come to an agreement.”

However, Johnson went on to wish the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise good luck ahead of their upcoming, and ostensibly final, film.

“From the beginning, my objective has been to end my fantastic adventure with this incredible franchise with appreciation and grace,” Johnson stated.

He continued, ” “This public debate has confused the waters, which is terrible. Regardless, I have faith in the ‘Fast’ universe and its ability to produce for the fans on a constant basis. In the next chapter, I really wish my former co-stars and crew colleagues the best of luck and success.”

With 2011’s ‘Fast Five,’ Johnson became a part of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise.

His Agent Hobbs is initially an adversary to Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, but Johnson’s character eventually joins his family of physics-defying heroes.

Following his role in 2017’s ‘The Fate of the Furious,’ Johnson left the main series to star in a spin-off alongside Jason Statham, titled ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.’
