The veteran producer believes this social comedy with a cameo by Amitabh Bachchan will strike just the right chord
The much-awaited Gujarati film ‘Fakt Mahilao Mate’ (Only for Women), with a cameo by none other than Amitabh Bachchan is expected to bring the family audiences back to the theatres in a big way. The women-led social comedy jointly produced by veteran producer Anand Pandit and Vaishali Shah, and directed by Jay Bodas will hit the theatres on August 19.
Pandit says, “The pandemic has deterred family audiences from coming to theatres but now people want to be entertained and go back to the movies once again with their loved ones. I feel ‘Fakt Mahilao Mate’ is arriving at just the right time and will bring families back to theatres.”
The film was announced in honour of International Women’s Week and Pandit says, a well-made film that focuses on women, has huge box-office potential. “I have never had a bias against women-centric stories because, in both regional and Hindi cinema, we have had successful comedies and powerful films dedicated to female protagonists. ‘Fakt Mahilao Mate’ is not only rich in emotions but is also a mass entertainer and that is why I decided to back it,” adds Anand.
He says, he always wanted to make a big-budget, socially relevant, Gujarati film, and then to have Amitabh Bachchan come onboard, was a dream come true. He adds, “To present Amitji in a Gujarati film in a role that people will remember forever is an absolute privilege. His dialect will blow everyone away! The story is really unique too and will sensitise men to what women experience in a way that is both humorous and entertaining.”
