Ahmedabad’s Khadi Revolution for Youth
Newzdaddy Business Updates
In honour of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, a remarkable initiative has unfolded in Ahmedabad, aiming to acquaint today’s youth with Gandhiji’s timeless wisdom while also revitalizing the age-old craft of khadi. Collaborating with skilled rural artisans, this endeavour encompasses a wide array of khadi products tailored to suit the preferences of youth, women, children, and the wider community.
Located at Ahmedabad’s Titanium City Center, “Thread Game” this project officially commenced on Gandhi Jayanti, on October 2nd, and is set to take the city by storm. Renowned local fashion designers, Niki Doshi and Manish Doshi, have meticulously curated a captivating collection of khadi dresses, uniquely designed to pique the interest of the younger generation. Their brand name is “Thread Game.”
What truly sets these khadi creations apart is the ingenuity of the materials used. Talented artisans hailing from diverse rural regions in Gujarat have ingeniously crafted these garments by harnessing fibres sourced from unexpected origins, such as banana peels, orange, moss, and even milk. As a result, wearers can revel in the knowledge that these garments remain free from unpleasant odours and offer a perpetual feeling of refreshment.
Designer Niki Doshi shed light on their initial focus, stating that the clothing range has been rolled out primarily for women, and outreach efforts have been underway through various media channels. The response from women has been overwhelmingly positive, prompting the designers to embark on the development of a brand-new Khadi clothing line specifically tailored for men.
