FIFA world cup 2022

As predicted, Giant killer Morocco killed the 2010 world cup champion Spain. The resilient and gusty Moroccans knocked out their European neighbour Spain in a Penalty shoot-out.

As predicted Morocco showed in the group stages that they have something in them this time and that is desire, determination, and the ability to win and win big.

They showed that they can win over former champions Spain and top-seeded Belgium.  They drew with Croatia 0-0.

Morocco has not lost a single match till now in this FIFA World Cup 2022 and that is incredible.  They have reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup for the first time and have created history for their country.

The Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou is the national hero now and will be remembered for ages and years to come.

The Moroccans played fearlessly and were very strong in defence and did not allow Spanish strikers to move forward in the penalty box.

Spain looked very strong in the first two matches of the group stage where they beat Costa Rica comprehensively 7-0 and showed their power. But then their sward’s edge got blunt and they drew with Germany 1-1 and in the last group match, they lost 1-2 against Japan.  However, they progressed to the round of 16 but with less confidence.

Body Language of Spanish Coach Luis Enrique during Penalty

It becomes very difficult to uplift yourself once you get two back-to-back poor match performances. The body language of their Coach Luis Enrique showed everything after extra time was over and the match was going to be decided on penalties.

Spain has lost 4 out of 4 penalty shootouts in the world cup. Their performance on penalty is pathetic and Luis Enrique was aware of that. His face and body language before the penalties were taken says it all.

So now the stage of the quarterfinal is all set for the 8 Elite teams and the quarterfinal matches will begin on 9th December Friday between five times champion Brazil and the last world cup’s runner-up Croatia.

Morocco will be the team reaching to quarterfinal for the first time in the history of the FIFA world cup. They are the team who have created upsets and may again create upset and win against Portugal, you never know.

Morocco will take on Portugal on 10th December.

Below is the schedule of the quarterfinals.
