From Shelter to Spotlight: Priti Vala’s Inspiring Journey
Newzdaddy Relationship Updates
In the heart of Ahmedabad lies a tale of triumph that transcends barriers. Priti Vala, a determined Class XI student at DPS Bopal, emerged from the nurturing environment of Visamo Kids shelter home. Priti’s journey, from a sheltered childhood to representing Gujarat on a national stage, is a testament to her resilience and unwavering dedication.
A National Platform for Priti: Advocating for Children’s Voices
Priti Vala recently had the honour of representing Gujarat at the National Consultation on Environment and Climate Change in Kolkata. The event, curated by the Child In Need Institute (CINI), focused specifically on children’s perspectives. Priti’s participation marked a significant milestone in her personal journey.
Background: Priti’s Roots and Visamo Kids Shelter Home
Born to farm labourer parents from Shergadh village in Junagadh, Priti found herself under the care of Visamo Kids shelter home for the past 11 years. The shelter provided her not only with a home but also with opportunities to grow and shine.
At the national consultation, Priti passionately articulated her observations on how environmental degradation and climate change directly affect children’s playtime. She shed light on the steps taken by responsible adults, including local authorities, to ensure that children can enjoy outdoor activities without any hindrance from environmental issues.
Applauding Community Initiatives: Happy Streets and AUDA’s Contributions
Priti took a moment to appreciate community-driven initiatives like “Happy Streets” and highlighted the efforts of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) in greening the city. She commended the creation of safe spaces such as gardens, basketball courts, libraries, and other recreational facilities, contributing to the holistic development of children.
Beyond the consultation, Priti actively participated in launching a Nationwide Campaign focusing on understanding children’s aspirations concerning a sustainable environment. Her involvement underscores the importance of including the younger generation’s perspectives in the dialogue around environmental sustainability.
Learnings from Tree Walks Workshop: World Soil Day Celebrations
Sharing her experiences, Priti recounted her participation in a workshop organized by Tree Walks in Ahmedabad, held at the shelter home on World Soil Day (December 5). The workshop aimed to educate children on enriching soil and understanding waste segregation. Priti particularly emphasized the importance of recycling kitchen waste to create fertilizers, a sustainable practice implemented at Visamo Kids shelter home.
Priti’s journey to the national platform was preceded by her outstanding performance at the state-level consultation on Children on Environment and Climate Change. This state-level event, organized by Swapath Trust, Ganatar, and Paryavaran Mitra in November, was a crucial step in identifying voices that would represent Gujarat at the national level. The event was part of the Child Rights Collective Gujarat (CRCG).
Resilience and Dedication: Priti’s Inspiring Narrative
Priti Vala’s journey symbolizes more than individual success; it represents resilience, dedication, and the potential of every child. Her story encourages us to reflect on the transformative power of providing support and opportunities to those who may not have had a smooth start in life.
