Users can now see the expected toll price to their destination even before the trip begins, thanks to a new Google Maps update that includes toll pricing information from local tolling authorities.

Toll costs are now available on Google Maps in India, the United States, Japan, and Indonesia. The function is designed to assist users in deciding whether to use toll roads or ordinary roads.

“We’re putting out toll prices on Google Maps for the first time to help make the choice between toll roads and regular roads easier,” Google said in a blog. (Also read: Apple’s flagship developers’ conference will be streamed live online from June 6 to 10)

Users may now determine the expected toll price to their destination even before the trip begins with toll pricing information from local tolling authorities, thanks to this new update. Toll costs for approximately 2,000 toll roads in India, the United States, Japan, and Indonesia will be available on Android and iOS later this month. According to the company, other countries will be included soon.

Here are five key aspects concerning Google Maps’ new feature that Android and iOS users should be aware of.

1. Before you begin navigating, you’ll see the projected toll fee to your location.

2. Google Maps will take into account things like the cost of a toll pass or other payment options, the day of the week, and how much the toll is projected to cost at the time you’ll be crossing it.

3. Google Maps will still display you a toll-free route as an option if one is available.

4. As always, you have the option of fully avoiding routes with toll highways.

5. To see your route options in Google Maps, simply press on the three dots in the top right corner of your directions and pick ‘Avoid tolls.’

Google Maps for iOS users has been updated.

Google Maps is now easier to use on an Apple Watch or iPhone, thanks to recent upgrades for iOS users. A new pinned trip widget, direct navigation from the Apple Watch, and Google Maps integration with Siri and the shortcuts app are among the new features. The new pinned trip widget allows users to view journeys pinned in their Go Tab directly from the iOS home screen, making getting directions even quicker. Additionally, Apple Watch owners will soon be able to get directions directly from their Watch using Google Maps. Google Maps is also integrated into Spotlight, Siri, and the Shortcuts app for iOS.
