GTU Sports Officer Akash Faces Criticism Over Cricket Team Selection
Newz Daddy Cricket Updates
GTU Sports Fest 2025 is being organized, featuring cricket matches between various departments and staff members. However, before the matches could even start, GTU’s Sports Officer Akash Gohil faced criticism from an unexpected source — a Class-4 employee from the exam department.
Mukesh Thakor, a Class-4 employee from the exam department, formed a strong cricket team and became its captain. Known for his bowling and batting skills, Mukesh’s team is considered a strong contender for victory. Akash Gohil requested Mukesh to include him in the team, but due to his poor performance in the last year’s matches, the team, including the Class-4 employees, refused to take him.
Although Akash is officially the Sports Officer at GTU, his lack of actual sports skills is evident. The rejection from the Class-4 employees raised questions about the university’s decision to make Akash the Sports Officer.
It is rumoured that Akash, known for his interest in getting photographed at university events, pressured Mukesh to include his name in the team. In previous years, Akash had played in Mukesh’s team but had shown poor bowling performance by giving away extra runs through overthrows, no-balls, and wide balls. Despite using his position and influence, Akash was still denied a spot in the team.
Mukesh, being a loyal and dedicated team player, refused Akash’s requests. Even the Class-4 employees did not support Akash’s inclusion, leading to his public embarrassment within the university.
It is reported that Akash approached the in-charge exam controller to force Mukesh to add his name to the team. Despite the pressure, Mukesh stood firm and denied Akash’s request. However, considering the higher authorities’ request, Mukesh finally included Akash in the team.
The Class-4 employees criticized Akash for seeking cheap popularity and misusing university resources. Some time ago, Akash had claimed that the position of the coach belonged to him, and Registrar Kanji also seemed to support him. This has raised questions about whether Akash will be appointed as the coach, even though he was rejected by the Class-4 employees for the cricket team.
Recently, videos of Akash’s poor bowling went viral among the university staff, who are now making fun of him. There are concerns about how such a person can represent GTU in sports. Additionally, the way Akash tried to include his name in the team — from Class-4 employees to the registrar — has led to doubts about the authenticity of his sports degree.
If a person who cannot secure a place in a cricket team is appointed as the Sports Officer, questions arise about the university’s decision-making process.
