6 February 2025, Ahmedabad As the Tata Women’s Premier League’s (WPL) third season is aproaching near, anticipation is gearing up. With a spectacular start to their preparations, the Gujarat Giants, owned by Adani Sportsline, are ready to make their historic home debut in Vadodara. The Head Coack and wo players were present in Ahmedabad to launch their New Jersey on Thursday, 6th February. The Head coach Michael Klinger, players Shabnam Shakil and Harleen Deol, and Sanjay Adesara, the chief business officer of Adani Sportsline, were present at the occasion.

The upcoming Tata WPL season 3 is scheduled to start on February 14 and will take place in a number of locations, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Vadodara, and Lucknow. This season is especially memorable for the Gujarat Giants because it will be their first time playing in front of their home fans in Vadodara.

The Head coach Michael Klinger discussed the team’s goals for the season during the press conference. He declared, “We’re here to play some strong cricket and compete hard.” “We want to make it to the finals and take home the title.” We’re not going to back down from that goal. I think we have the team that can achieve this goal.

Michael Klinger also emphasised how the players on the team have improved over the previous campaign. Some of our athletes have even made their senior team debuts, and six of them have played for the India A squad. We will undoubtedly benefit this season from the exposure they have had from premier cricket and other franchise leagues,” he continued.

One of the star of Indian Women’s Cricket, all-rounder Harleen Deol, who missed the previous season due to injury, is one of the Gujarat Giants’ main players this year. Deol said she was thrilled to be rejoining the squad at the event. “I’m even more excited to play this time because I missed the last season due to my injury,” she stated.

Deol also talked about how she had happy recollections of her first century at Vadodara. “In every sport, you start at zero every day, but I have a great memory of reaching my first hundred in Vadodara. I can’t wait to play there once more and give the squad my all,” she continued.

Speaking at the event was young Shabnam Shakil, who just helped the Indian side win the U19 World Cup for the second time in a row. She considered how playing for the Gujarat Giants and the WPL had aided in her development as a player.

“There have been a lot of lessons learnt, particularly from the team’s foreign and experienced players,” Shakil stated. I had the opportunity to play four games in season two, and the exposure has been priceless. I have gained confidence and a platform to express myself thanks to the Gujarat Giants and the WPL.

Adani Sportsline’s Chief Business Officer, Sanjay Adesara, discussed the company’s goals for the squad this year. “Our objective is straightforward: to give our all and give our supporters, not only in Gujarat but also throughout the nation and the world, an amazing cricketing experience,” he stated.

The importance of performing for the first time in front of a home audience was underlined by Adesara. For us, this is a historic occasion. We’re thrilled to make our supporters pleased, and performing in Vadodara is a dream come true,” he continued.

On February 14, the Gujarat Giants will play the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, to kick off their WPL 2025 season. The game, which will take place at Vadodara’s BCA Stadium, will kick off what should be an entertaining season for the team and its supporters.

The Gujarat Giants are prepared to leave their mark as the WPL 2025 countdown gets underway. The team, which consists of both new and seasoned players, is committed to winning the championship trophy this year.
