Ahmedabad, August 12, 2023: Gujarat Nephrology Association (GNA) will protest against Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) for imparity in dialysis rates in private hospitals in Gujarat. The dialysis activity will stop between the 14th and 16th of August 2023 in private hospitals in Gujarat under PMJAY.
According to GNA, lakhs of patients get treatment of dialysis under PMJAY in private hospitals in Gujarat every year In Gujarat state every year about 1.3 crore dialysis treatments have been done of which 1.02 crore (78 %) dialysis treatment is done in private hospitals. The hospitals get Rs.2000 per dialysis for the last 8 years from the Government of Gujarat. Recently the Gujarat Government suddenly reduced the price to Rs.1650 per dialysis. According to Gujarat Government health ministry guidelines, the dialysis centers can use the filter a single time, whereas in other states the filter can use 7 to 8 times. Due to the decrease in the price of dialysis treatment, it is very difficult for private hospitals to sustain dialysis treatment.
The GNA has also represented state health minister Shri Rishikesh Patel for the imparity of dialysis treatment prices in Gujarat.
