Haddi” Movie Review: Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Powerful Gangster Story Impresses
If you’re looking for a movie that packs a punch, “Haddi” on Zee5 is one to consider. Directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma and led by the exceptional Nawazuddin Siddiqui, this gripping gangster drama is not your ordinary film.
The story is set in the modern ruins of the National Capital Region (NCR). It revolves around Haddi, a transgender from Allahabad, who comes to Delhi to join a group of fellow transgenders. Haddi’s mission is to climb to the top of the criminal hierarchy and seek revenge for the wrongs done to his family by a powerful gangster-turned-politician.
“Haddi” is a brutal and intense revenge drama that will keep you glued to the screen. The story is complex, and the characters are well-crafted. It employs a cold-blooded approach similar to what you’d find in films by directors like Kashyap, Scorsese, Fincher, and Tarantino.
The film respectfully portrays the Kinnar and transgender communities. The background music is fantastic, and the songs, especially “Beparda,” are beautiful. The actors in the film deliver outstanding performances, and the third act of the movie is particularly impressive.
The film does have its flaws. The pacing can be inconsistent, with moments of fast-paced action followed by slower parts. However, the intriguing premise keeps the film together, and the final 40 minutes are truly gripping.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is outstanding in his role as Haddi, showcasing his incredible talent. Anurag Kashyap’s portrayal of Pramod Ahlawat is intimidating and memorable. Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub’s short but crucial role is handled with sensitivity, and the love story between his character and Siddiqui adds depth to the film. The supporting cast also deserves praise for their brilliant performances.
“Haddi” is not your typical movie. It’s a unique revenge drama that leaves a lasting impact. While it may have some pacing issues, the essence of the film shines through. After watching “Haddi,” you’ll find it hard to forget. Catch it on Zee5 now.
