Yash Dayal of the Gujarat Titans has lauded “calm and confident” skipper Hardik Pandya and explained how he enhances a bowler’s confidence. For the upcoming two-match T20I series against Ireland, Pandya has been selected, as captain. After KL Rahul suffered a groin injury immediately before the first match against South Africa, he was named Rishabh Pant’s successor.
With repeated solid performances, the star Indian all-rounder has made a spectacular comeback from his reoccurring back problem. In IPL 2022, he was the Gujarat Titans’ leading run-scorer with 487 runs in 15 matches with a strike rate of 131.25, but he wowed everyone with his leadership qualities by leading his side to IPL gold in his first season as captain.
“Hardik Pandya is composed and assured, and he knows exactly what to do at each stage of the game. He is the captain of a bowling team. He lets you make your own decisions if you have faith in yourself. A bowler’s confidence is boosted even more as a result of this.
From the start, Ashish Nehra was a huge supporter of mine
Yash Dayal, 24, was a standout for the Titans in his first IPL season, taking 11 wickets in nine games. Dayal’s performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, earned him INR 3.20 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction. He complimented Gujarat Titans bowling coach Ashish Nehra, a former Indian pacer, for his support from the start of the season.
“Ashish Nehra has always been a strong supporter of mine. I used to experiment and try a lot of various things. But Ashish sir taught me the importance of staying concentrated and focused, as well as some fundamental plans to follow without putting too much pressure on myself. It’s a high level of cricket, so you’ll need to be astute as well. He believes that how you deliver and execute is critical, such as how you bowl to the openers at first, what your goal is for them, and different plans for death over,” Dayal added.
