India loses by 18 runs in the only T20I against New Zealand women. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team was unable to make an early impact with the ball after opting to bowl first, and White Ferns openers Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine got the White Ferns off to a flying start.
When the total reached fifty, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Deepti Sharma removed them, but New Zealand recorded 155/5 on the board thanks to quickfire blows from Maddy Green (26 off 20 balls) and Lea Tahuhu (27 off 14 balls).
The Indians fell 18 runs short of the objective while chasing it down. Sabbhineni Meghana led the visitors in scoring with 37 points from 30 balls.
“I believe we were in the game when we bowled, but the last few overs didn’t go our way, and we also didn’t get any partnerships with the bat.” There’s a lot to learn from this, and maybe we’ll improve in the coming games. “Playing at the same place (for ODIs) benefits us a lot,” Harmanpreet remarked after the match.
“Not surprised to come up the order,” remarked Lea Tahuhu, who was named Player of the Match. We’ve been doing it in Super Smash Bros., so we discussed doing it here as well. They are still refusing to let me in (smiles, getting the tag of all-rounder). It’s a great way to kick off a busy couple of months for me.
