c! kit,’ developed in collaboration with News18 Network and Sesame Workshop India Trust, made its global debut at the World Economic Forum 2024 in Davos. The kit, unveiled in India by the Honorable President Smt. Droupadi Murmu in September 2023, is part of Mission Swachhta aur Paani, a nationwide campaign promoting inclusive sanitation practices and advocating for proper toilet behavior across India.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, at Davos, praised the kit for its innovation and transformative impact. He emphasized the significance of projects focused on children’s well-being and education about sanitation and water use. Puri expressed his happiness at such initiatives being showcased globally, stating, “Congratulations on showcasing these impactful projects.”
Global Recognition at Davos
Ravi Bhatnagar, Director, External Affairs & Partnerships, South Asia, Reckitt, expressed gratitude for the global recognition of the ‘Swoosh Germs Away!’ kit at Davos. Sonali Khan, Managing Director, of Sesame Workshop India Trust, showcased the kit’s unique interactive features at Davos. She stated, “Our kit is a promising model for replication in a world dealing with hygiene issues.” Crafted to inspire children globally, the kit aims to provide concrete learning experiences through multi-sensorial assets and play-based methods.
Educational Impact and Curriculum Details
Aligned with the National Education Policy and National Curriculum Framework, the kit includes 3D pop-up books, jigsaw puzzles, and an activity booklet featuring Sesame’s engaging characters. Aimed at promoting positive toilet habits, the program has actively involved over 200,000 children, with plans to extend its impact to 1.7 million children in Odisha.
Mission Swachhta aur Paani: A Nationwide Initiative
Mission Swachhta aur Paani, a collaboration between Harpic and News18, is dedicated to sustainable sanitation practices and ensuring access to clean water. In its third season, the campaign aligns with the Swachh Bharat Mission and UN Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to create awareness and actionable measures for universal clean and safe toilets.
