Kolkata, September 29, 2023: Hazra Park Durgotsab, a popular festival in South Kolkata, has a new and exciting theme this year. They call it ‘Three-Wheel Tale,’ and it’s all about the people who drive auto rickshaws. This festival has been going on for 81 years now, and this time they’re celebrating the folks who take us around the city in their three-wheeled vehicles. The festival is held at Hazra crossing (inside Jatin Das Park), and they kicked things off with a special event to honor ten auto-rickshaw drivers from Kolkata.
Some important people, like Sri. Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, who is the Minister of Agriculture in the West Bengal government, and Sri. Sayan Deb Chatterjee, who is a Joint Secretary of the Hazra Park Durgotsab Committee, was there at the event.

Sri. Sayan Deb Chatterjee, from the festival committee, talked to the media and said, “Kolkata, often called the City of Joy, is changing very fast to keep up with the modern world. Auto rickshaw drivers in our city do a lot of things. They are parents, husbands, and sons, but they also drive those three-wheeled autos to help us get around. They work very hard day and night to make a living, and they make sure their families are happy. But when they go to sleep at night on their old blankets, they dream of doing even better someday.” He invited everyone to come to the festival with their families and friends.

This festival season, they’re giving a big shoutout to all the auto-rickshaw drivers. You’ve probably heard people call them “uncle,” “auto,” or “dada” when they give you a ride. These drivers work no matter the weather, taking passengers from place to place. The Hazra Park Durgotsav committee wants to show them lots of love and support during this special time.
The ‘Three-Wheel Tale’ theme is a great addition to Hazra Park Durgotsab’s long history of fun and meaningful celebrations.
