Heartwarming Story of Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell finally lived up to the hype on Thursday night, leading Delhi Capitals (DC) to a critical win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Wankhede Stadium. To send the Capitals home, the colossal West Indian smashed an undefeated 33 off 16 balls.

Powell has had a rough campaign thus far, but the all-rounder has repaid the franchise’s faith in him. Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop has told a heartwarming anecdote about Rovman Powell as he prepares to play in the IPL 2022.

When he was in high school, the cricketer told his mother that he would help them get out of poverty. He added that many people want him to succeed because they know what he has gone through as a child. Ian Bishop, speaking on ESPNCricinfo, said:

“If anyone has ten minutes to spare, watch Rovman Powell’s life narrative, which is available on YouTube. You’ll understand why so many people, including myself, are ecstatic that he’s had a taste of the IPL. He was born into a poor family. When he was still in secondary school, he promised his mother that he would help them get out of poverty.

Rovman Powell grew up in Old Harbor, Jamaica, with his mother and sister in a small neighborhood known as the Bannister District. He had to deal with a lot of adversities as a child and had to fend for himself. He got into cricket to help his family get out of poverty.
