Ben Stokes, who captained England to a victory over New Zealand, thinks that the way his team performed has raised the bar for aspiring teams.
“With the way everyone has applied themselves, the attitude they have brought to every single day, every single session, and every single hour of these three matches, I would have walked off a very happy captain, even if we were on the wrong side of results in these games if they had played out in the same way but we had lost. Stokes stated on Monday, “I would like to assume that those watching know what they need to do to knock on the door and try to get in this team (June 27).
The series, according to Stokes, provided a clear message about how the team management wanted players to approach the game and how it could affect selections. Stokes added that England’s attacking style of play successfully turned heads.
“I anticipated that everyone would adopt the mindset that Brendon and I desired for this team, but I didn’t anticipate that it would work out this well. I believe that those who hope to play Test cricket for England over the next two to three years at the very least should have received a message from these last three matches.
“I would say that it’s more important how you play than necessarily your stats, whether you have the ball or bat in your hand. Since we want to build on this, it is not just about the now but also about the future.
As England sped to a comfortable victory in the series’ last innings, Jonny Bairstow, the batsman who best represented their new strategy, received high plaudits from Stokes as well.
He has demonstrated that ability in white-ball cricket, and he currently plays as though he is wearing the colors. It was quite remarkable for him to follow up an outstanding effort at Trent Bridge with performances in both innings this week, according to Stokes.
