Ahmedabad, August 3, 2023: The Ahmedabad branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Department of Higher & Technical Education, Government of Gujarat, have taken a significant step towards enhancing the employability of undergraduates and graduates in the state. On July 27, 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed, solidifying their commitment to provide trained faculty support to students pursuing the vocational course on Certificate in Advanced Accounting and Taxation. The initiative aims to empower students with crucial skills, ultimately contributing to their success in today’s competitive world.

Strengthening Vocational Education

The MoU signing ceremony witnessed the participation of esteemed dignitaries, including CA Dr. Anjali Choksi, Chairperson of Ahmedabad Branch of WIRC OF ICAI, CA Abhinav Malaviya, Secretary of Ahmedabad Branch of WIRC OF ICAI, Shri Mukesh Kumar, IAS, State Project Director of Rastriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) & Principal Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, GOG, and Shri P.B. Pandya, IAS, Director of Higher Education, GOG & CEO, Knowledge Consortium Group (KCG).

Comprehensive Course Structure

The vocational course on Certificate in Advanced Accounting and Taxation is designed to be an extensive 120-hour program. It will encompass fundamental and advanced topics, equipping students with practical training in areas such as Income Tax, GST, Tally, MS Office, Project Report, Stock markets, Information Technology, and other essential skills. The comprehensive curriculum seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, enhancing the students’ employability prospects.

Collaborative Approach

The collaborative effort will initially launch the course in four prominent colleges, namely Gujarat Commerce College, Gujarat Arts & Commerce Evening College, R C College, K K Shastry Commerce College in Ahmedabad, and Government Commerce College in Gandhinagar. The strategic selection of these institutions is intended to reach a significant number of students across the state, positively impacting their skill sets and career trajectories.

Fostering Placement Support

Apart from providing rigorous academic training, the partnership also emphasizes facilitating placement support for students completing the Certificate in Advanced Accounting and Taxation course. The integration of practical knowledge and enhanced employability skills will empower graduates to secure promising career opportunities in the competitive job market.
