ICC World Cup qualifiers Match between Netherlands and West Indies

It was a black Monday and a forgettable day in the history of West Indian Cricket.  A small team like the Netherlands recorded a big win against the mighty West Indies.

Netherlands’ Logan Van Beek, scored a boundary off each delivery to lead the Netherlands to an incredible victory.

By scoring a remarkable 30 runs in an ODI Super Over, Logan van Beek rewrote the record book. In the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier at Harare, Netherlands was in trouble at 327 for 7, needing 47 runs from the next three overs to chase down 375. Aryan Dutt, batting at position 9, was van Beek’s only companion after the Netherlands lost two wickets in the span of three balls. To help tie the scores off the penultimate ball, they contributed 44 runs in just 21 balls.

Van Beek was eliminated by Alzarri Joseph with the game’s final shot, resulting in a Super Over.

Van Beek was eliminated after Jason Holder made the diving catch, and a rematch of sorts ensued as van Beek and Scott Edwards faced off against Holder in super over. The Netherlands captain only needed to snag the best seat in the house to see flawless power-hitting that led to a fantastical victory.

Van Beek took the strike to face Jason Holder in Super Over and he scored 30 runs. Holder simply could not handle Van Beek after bowling so many overs under duress. The West Indies will now need something genuinely exceptional to cross the finish line.

In the end, it proved to be an impossible undertaking, especially since Van Beek also had to handle the ball. As West Indies managed just eight runs, he dismissed Johnson Charles and Romario Shepherd, giving the Netherlands a historic win over two times world champion West Indies and two essential points to take over into the Super Six stage of the competition.
