Students Bring Health and Greenery to Gandhinagar Villages
Students from Aarihant Ayurvedic Medical College and Research Institute, which is part of the Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, recently took part in an exciting and meaningful event. This event, named ‘Prakriti Parikshan and Tree Plantation,’ was organized by the Ayurveda Shakha of the Gandhinagar district Panchayat. It took place at Ayushgram in the Bileshwarpura village of Kalol taluka, located in the Gandhinagar district.
A Collaborative Effort
The initiative saw active participation from around 60 second-year students pursuing their Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree. They were accompanied and guided by faculty members Dr. VP Aralikatti, Dr. Avinash Wade, Dr. Dharmisha Kahdoliya, and Dr. Tejal J Ganvit. These dedicated educators facilitated the students’ participation and ensured they gained valuable practical experience during the event.
Promoting Ayurveda and Environmental Sustainability
The ‘Prakriti Parikshan and Tree Plantation program aims to promote both environmental sustainability and the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda. This dual focus makes the initiative unique and impactful, allowing students to learn and contribute in meaningful ways.
Understanding Prakriti Parikshan
One of the core activities of the event was the Prakriti Parikshan, an essential diagnostic tool in Ayurveda. Prakriti Parikshan helps assess an individual’s constitution or ‘Prakriti,’ which is fundamental in providing personalized health recommendations. This aspect of Ayurveda emphasizes the uniqueness of each individual’s body and mind, aiming to offer tailored health advice based on this understanding.
Hands-On Experience for Students
Students were divided into nine groups, each guided by 10 AYUSH medical officers. This division ensured that each student received ample guidance and support. The students conducted door-to-door surveys as part of the Prakriti Parikshan. This hands-on activity allowed them to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting, providing them with invaluable practical experience.
Personalized Health Recommendations
During the door-to-door surveys, students assessed the Prakriti of individuals in the community. Based on this assessment, they provided personalized health recommendations under the supervision of experienced Ayurvedic doctors. This interaction not only helped students learn more about Prakriti Parikshan but also enabled them to understand the health concerns and needs of the community.
Tree Plantation Drive
After completing the surveys, the students participated in a tree plantation drive. Each student planted a tree, contributing to the environment and promoting the importance of greenery. This activity was not only a practical step towards environmental sustainability but also a symbolic gesture of nurturing and growth, reflecting the core values of Ayurveda and holistic health.
