A case of cheating money in the name of soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil War has come to light. After 24 years after the court order, a police complaint of fraud was registered.

North Zone The Federation of Gujarat State Chemists and Druggists Association collected money from people and traders for the Indian soldiers who were martyred during the Kargil War in 1999. At that time people freely donated for the martyrs. Pankaj Velani, a lawyer from Patan also contributed 5000 rupees. An account was opened in Mehsana Co-operative Bank for this fund.

Pankaj Velani, a lawyer from Patan, had earlier filed a complaint that the government had been defrauded by not giving the money collected for the martyrs to the fund. A bank account has also been opened on the basis of fake documents and Rs.50 lakhs have been siphoned off.

The bank statements presented did not contain any details of funds raised during the Kargil war. In such a case, this scam came to light and an application was filed in the court in 2022. Earlier in the year 2002 also, Pankaj Velani had filed a complaint in the court, however, the lower court rejected the allegations as he did not have any documentary evidence. Then after 24 years, he once again applied against the people who collected money in the name of martyrs and looted it.
