Dean Elgar, the South African Test captain, stated on Tuesday (December 21) that Ravichandran Ashwin is one of India’s finest off-spinners, and that his team will have to bring their “A” game to face the ace bowler. Three Tests and three One-Day Internationals will be played between India and South Africa. The Boxing Day Test will take place at SuperSport Park in Centurion on December 26.

“I don’t believe Ravichandran Ashwin has had a lot of success in South Africa, which is fine with us.” Because the conditions are so different in India, you can’t truly compare his results against our hitters. We must concentrate on our game plan, which has been developed individually by each player. “It’s vital not to focus on just one player in their lineup,” Elgar stated before of the Test series in a virtual press conference.

“India is a strong team that checks all the boxes. Ashwin is a talented bowler who is perhaps one of India’s top off-spinners. We’ll keep that in mind; competing against them will be difficult,” he continued.

Elgar stated of India’s bowling assault, “India has an enormously better bowling line-up.” As I previously stated, we will be cognizant of the fact that we will be facing a formidable bowling attack. We will feel much more at ease in our own surroundings once we are in South Africa. Hopefully, we will be able to make use of this. We know it will be difficult, but facing our attack will be difficult for the Indian hitters as well.

“I hope the rain stays away,” Elgar said when asked about the weather in Centurion. “There has been a lot of rain so hopefully it stays away.” Centurion has consistently produced excellent wickets. If you apply yourself as a batter, it has always been a good place to be. If you have extra pace and bounce on the ball, you can take advantage of the conditions. At Centurion, you can score runs if you put in the effort as a batter. Bowlers can also enjoy themselves at Centurion if they have some skill and are prepared to be patient,” he added.

Anrich Nortje, a fast bowler, was ruled out of the upcoming three-match Test series against India earlier on Tuesday. He continued, “I’d rather be here than in the Indian dressing room, knowing they’ll have to face our bowlers.”
