In a dramatic rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard swiftly responded to a distress call and saved the lives of five fishermen aboard the sinking Indian Fishing boat Premsagar. The incident unfolded approximately 40 kilometers from Porbandar on March 24, 2024.

The Maritime Rescue sub-center Porbandar of the Indian Coast Guard’s District HQ -1 (South Gujarat Daman & Diu) promptly relayed the urgent message to the authorities. Without hesitation, ICG Ship C-161, under the command of Assistant Comdt Karthikeyan, set sail from Porbandar to the location of the stricken vessel.

However, the extent of the damage proved insurmountable, and the already flooded fishing boat succumbed to the relentless forces of the sea, sinking approximately 12 kilometers off the coast of Porbandar.
