India’s Chandrayaan-3 Moon Lander Spotted by NASA Satellite
NASA’s Cool Photo Find
NASA’s camera in space, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), took a great picture of India’s Chandrayaan-3 moon lander. This is special because Chandrayaan-3 became the first spacecraft to land safely near the moon’s South Pole.
The LRO took this picture just four days after Chandrayaan-3 landed on the moon. It was on August 27, 2023. NASA shared this cool photo on a social media platform called “X.”
Why It Looks Special
The picture shows the moon lander with a bright halo around it. This happened because when Chandrayaan-3’s rockets landed, they kicked up tiny pieces of moon soil. These tiny pieces made the bright circle around the lander in the photo.
The Camera and Who’s in Charge
The LRO camera is managed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, USA. They do this for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington, D.C. It’s a team effort!
India’s 3D Moon Picture
India’s space group, ISRO, also shared a cool picture of the moon. They made it 3D! They used special pictures from their rover called Pragyan and made a picture that looks like it has three dimensions. To see it in 3D, you
The 3D picture was made using special Navcam pictures from ISRO’s rover. One picture goes into the red channel, and the other goes into the blue and green channels, making it look like 3D. It’s all very high-tech!
This is exciting news for space fans. It helps us understand more about the moon and how to explore it better.
