The All India Senior Selection Committee met on Wednesday to name an 18-man squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. The selection committee, which included former Indian cricketer Chetan Sharma, Debashish Mohanty, and Abey Kuruvilla, also named Rohit Sharma as the next ODI and T20I captain moving forward. Ajinkya Rahane is replaced as India’s Test vice-captain by Rohit Sharma.
In three Tests and three One-Day Internationals, India will face South Africa. There were rumors that India might not come to South Africa because to the Omicron worry, but the BCCI has debunked such rumors and given the Indian tour of South Africa the green light.

Players on the Bench
Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, Deepak Chahar, and Arzan Nagwaswalla are on the bench.
The position of Rahane was another big discussion topic from the conference.
According to the reports, Rahane has been able to keep his spot in the side due to the absence of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli for an extended length of time. “It would be terribly unfair to single out one player when two others have had equally poor performances.” Obviously, Kohli is in a different class, but South Africa would be Rahane and Pujara’s final opportunity,”.
